Literally. I escaped Cuba in 2001 hiding in the engine room of a boat, rebuilt my entire life in a new country and a new language, and became the woman who sits across from powerful women and excavates the exact moment they decided to become small.
I was a 19 year old girl on a Havana sidewalk selling government croquettes and secretly watered down peach juice. I sold every single cup. Not because the product was exceptional. Because something in my energy made people reach into their pockets. I now teach women that energy was never a gift. It was a practice.
